You can make interesting and unique designs with just a few dollars&#8217; worth of supplies and some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theadairgroup.com\/blank-t-shirts\/adult\/\">cheap t-shirts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>What You&#8217;ll Need<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">1 plain washed t-shirt<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">1 pair of rubber gloves<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">1 plastic sheet<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">1 plastic bowl<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">1 pair of scissors<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">tie-dye mixes (liquid or powder)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">rubber bands<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">soda ash<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">marbles<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Before You Begin<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Be sure to pre-wash and dry t-shirt.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Spread the plastic sheet (garbage bags and newspapers will do the trick!) on the area where you will be working.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Read through all instructions carefully and be sure to check out the tips and precautions.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>The Steps<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Choose one of the following tie-dye designs below and follow the instructions for creating the desired designs. Once you have tied your shirt with rubber bands, follow the directions at the bottom of this page to color your shirt. Image from Beachsongs.net<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Circle Design<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Spread the shirt out on a flat surface.<\/p>\n<p>Pinch the fabric into a cone shape and insert the marble underneath the pinch, then tie it off with a rubber band. Be sure the tie is secure.<\/p>\n<p>Repeat this on any area of the t-shirt that you wish to finish with a circle design. Image from tiedyebysandy.com.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Spiral Design<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pinch the middle area of the t-shirt and twist into a spiral.<\/p>\n<p>Keeping spiral intact, wrap the entire shirt tightly around the spiral.<\/p>\n<p>Use rubber bands to secure the wrap.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dye Your Shirt<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Using the p<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">lastic bowl, prepare your tie-dye mixes according to their instructions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Carefully dip and dye your shirts in your desired areas and color choices.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Allow the garment to soak in each in each dye for about eight hours.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Using gloves, remove the shirt from the soak and snip off rubber bands using scissors.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Rinse the shirt using cold water until the water is clear of dyes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Wash and dry your shirt through two full laundry cycles in hot water.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Wear, accessorize, and e<\/span>njoy!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Tips and Precautions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">For more vibrant colors, soak your shirt in soda ash before dying for a sure-to-stay dye job. Be sure to always wear gloves when working with soda ash.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">It&#8217;s a good strategy to dye your shirt in the evening. You will need to allow the shirt to soak for at least 8 hours in the dye.
