first appeared in the United States during the 1960&#8217;s.\u00a0 Hippies, who were protesting the Vietnam War and promoting peace and love, began wearing clothing with vibrant colors and psychedelic designs.\u00a0 This clothing is called tie-dye.\u00a0\u00a0 Tie-Dye T-Shirts and dresses were a symbol of non-violence and their popularity quickly spread among America&#8217;s youth.\u00a0 Not to mention how cool the shirts look.\u00a0 You can imagine how the design and colors of these shirts stood out in the 1960\u2019s amongst all the bland conservative clothing looks of the time.\u00a0 If you wore tie dye you stood for something!<\/p>\n<p>Around this time, rock &#8216;n roll bands started to emerge and their message permeated through this counter-culture.\u00a0 The most prominent was a band called The Grateful Dead.<\/p>\n<p><div id=\"attachment_479\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theadairgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Tie-Dye-T-Shirts.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-479\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-479\" title=\"Tie Dye T-Shirts\" src=\"https:\/\/www.theadairgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Tie-Dye-T-Shirts-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.theadairgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Tie-Dye-T-Shirts-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.theadairgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Tie-Dye-T-Shirts-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.theadairgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Tie-Dye-T-Shirts.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-479\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tie Dye T-Shirts gained popularity in the 1960&#39;s<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n<p>They began playing shows in Palo-Alto, California in 1965 and developed a hardcore lesion of fans known as &#8220;deadheads&#8221;.\u00a0 Deadheads would follow them around, city to city, seeing as many live concerts as possible.\u00a0 Along the way, they had to make money to pay for food and gas in order to get to the next show. \u00a0\u00a0Many of these fans began selling merchandise in the parking lot before and after the Grateful Dead would perform.\u00a0 The most popular items sold were homemade veggie burritos and <a title=\"Tie Dye T-Shirts\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theadairgroup.com\/tie-dye\/adult\/\" target=\"_blank\">tie-dye t-shirts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Today, the Grateful Dead are no longer performing but tie-dye t-shirts and other tie-dye apparel are as popular as ever!\u00a0 And these tie dye\u2019s aren\u2019t just worn around the music scene.\u00a0 Birthday parties, sports teams, school projects- you name it.\u00a0 Everybody is wearing tie-dye!\u00a0 Here at the Adair Group, we have over 30 different styles of tie dye and are adding new designs all the time!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The term &#8220;tie-dye&#8221;
